Between the lakes
 Walnut Tree Shepherd's Huts are situated on a quiet organic farm amongst the beautiful rolling hills of the North Somerset countryside. Chew Valley Lake was opened by the Queen in 1956. Set in 1200 acres, it's renowned for trout and pike fishing and also sailing. Blagdon Lake although smaller is also renowned for fishing. The cities of Bath, Bristol and Wells are a thirty minute drive away and the Mendip Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is twenty minutes away by car.

There are many good pubs and restaurants in the vicinity.

Chew Valley Lake is just over 2 miles from Walnut Tree Farm. It has a very pleasant picnic area with a large variety of ducks and geese and lovely views across the water. Also an excellent fish and chip restaurant / takeaway - 'Salt and Malt'.

Chew Stoke (2 miles away) has The Stoke Inn (for good Indian food) and The Chew Kitchen.

Chew Magna (3 miles away) has The Bear and Swan, The Pelican and The Queen's Head.

The Michelin starred Pony Chew Valley is a mile from Chew Magna.




Walk and Explore
The Monarch's Way is on your doorstep, follow King Charles II's footsteps through the local countryside and beyond. Many other footpaths lead from the farm.
The Mendip Hills can stretch the keenest walkers legs. There are many paths, ancient woodlands, old villages and places of historical interest to explore. Explore Cheddar Gorge, Ebor Gorge, Burrington Coombe, Wraxall Woods, Goblin Coombe and Brockley Coombe. Richmont Castle at bluebell time is beautiful. Visit Victorian Clevedon Pier and Ladye Bay on the Bristol Channel. 
The prehistoric stone circle, pictured here, at nearby Stanton Drew is the third largest stone circle in Britain.

City Life 

The beautiful Georgian city of Bath is a distance of sixteen miles.
Bristol, eight miles away, is a lively city with a busy harbour-side and the spectacular suspension bridge. 
Both cities run river trips. They also have convenient park and ride buses.
Wells, twelve miles away, is the smallest city in England. It has an outstanding cathedral set in lovely gardens.
The balloon fiesta, pictured, takes place every August in Bristol.
